Research Programs

POLITICAL VIOLENCE AND TERRORISM

The program will develop a body of theories spanning its various disparate elements, and to study the impact of political violence and responses to it, develop trainings to better equip the public and private sectors in engaging terrorist threats. The research will concentrate in countering the threats of political violence and terrorism in addressing counter narratives on radicalization and prevention of violent extremism.

TERRORIST ONLINE FINANCING AND CYBER TERRORISM

The program will undertake and research terrorist financing through various platforms and will provide informative resources on the modus operandi of current terrorist financing, cyber-terrorism and online platforms of terrorist threats, recruitment processes and radicalization. The program will also assist social media information security experts on premeditated attacks and narratives to identify, address and counter social media platforms from being manipulated and utilised by terrorist and extremist groups.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT & MAN-MADE DISASTERS

The program will consist of research addressing man-made disasters posed by non-state actors which includes NATEC and CBRNe disasters. Training programs developed by the NCTN will provide governments and organizations involved in crisis management on disaster preparedness which differs totally from natural disaster preparedness. The NCTN will provide state of art situational awareness in addressing preparedness on counter-measures and resilience.

HYBRID THREATS

The program will look into terrorism linked to trans-national crimes, political parties, political activist groups as well as non-governmental organizations where terrorism has infiltrated these organizations using platforms already in existence to commit, propagate and incite terroristic threats and attacks.

NON-TRADITIONAL THREATS

The Program will cover focus area in trans-national crimes including refugees inclined radicalization and violent extremism, internal and cross-border conflicts linked to terrorism and challenges affecting Europe in relation to terrorism from the Caucasus, the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia. The program carries out research and provides trainings for organizations in understanding the complex nature of the nexus of terrorism, crimes and conflicts.

COUNTER TERRORISM PEACE AND SECURITY PROGRAM

The Counter Terrorism - Peace and Security program bridges the gaps between counter terrorism, peace and security operations. It identifies and provide measures and approaches in delivering best practices in mitigating threats from terrorism. The program will provide expertise for training and research in counter terrorism, peace and security operations.

CYBER INTELLIGENCE & COUNTER-TERRORISM DIVISION

This newly established division in NCTN offers monitoring and training in intelligence gathering based on open sources available online. The NCTN team has experience in providing OSINT to law enforcement Counter Terrorism Units and intelligence agencies. The division focuses on OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) Gathering & Analysis by collaborating with sources from many differnet intelligence-gathering methods like GEOINT and IMINT.

The objective of this division is to provide OSINT reports to the client and to provide a better understanding of OSINT in countering terrorism.
