Analytics & Cybersecurity Division
As terrorism evolves, so too must our methods for preventing and combating it. The unprecedented rise of Artificial Intelligence and Internet in creating profound impact to our life also comes with its risks. There is growing concern over the misuse of new technologies i.e.: AI and Communication technologies by terrorists to commit, incite, recruit, fund, or plan terrorist acts. Nordic Counter Terrorism Network (NCTN) is at the forefront of pioneering research in Analytics and Cybersecurity, addressing the urgent need to protect our societies from increasingly sophisticated terrorist threats.
Focus of Initiative
Our initiative is dedicated to exploring and developing advanced analytical techniques and state-of-the-art cybersecurity measures that can outpace the ever-changing landscape of terrorist activities. This includes:
● Prediction of Attack: Utilizing advanced machine learning and AI algorithms to forecast potential terrorist activities by analyzing patterns in historical data. Our research seeks to improve the accuracy and reliability of these predictive models, ensuring they can effectively anticipate threats before they materialize.
● Risk Mitigation: Creating a replicable framework to strategically prevent and preemptively mitigate terrorist attacks e.g.: situational reporting, monitoring, risk mitigation and analysis, associated with military and civilian operations
● Cyber defense: Creating best practices to prevent cyber-attacks carried out by terrorist actors against critical infrastructure; mitigating such attacks and enabling countries to recover and restore targeted systems.
Vision
Pioneering advanced Analytics and Cybersecurity to ensure safer world
Mission
● Develop technologies to aid law enforcement, security agencies, non-government organization operating in conflict zones and peace operations and security agencies globally in keeping personnel and civilians safe
● Researching and actively developing best practice technologies to outpace and neutralize emerging security and terrorist threat
● Becoming the golden standard in global counterterrorism efforts that protects the communities and respects individual privacy and civil liberties.
Programme Objective
Our research is driven by the understanding that traditional methods alone are no longer sufficient. The complexity and speed at which terrorist threats can emerge in the digital age require a proactive and dynamic approach, grounded in cutting-edge technology and robust international collaboration.
By leading the charge in these critical areas, the NCTN Analytics & Cybersecurity initiative aims to safeguard our societies and create a safer, more secure future for all.
